Self Esteem
Sheffield, 2019
I photographed Rebecca Lucy Taylor aka Self Esteem in our hometown of Sheffield, UK. In the shoot, we looked to push at the edges of social norms through acts of feminist rebellion, expressed in location, pose and styling. The images were taken in 2019, soon after Self Esteem's first album Compliments Please was released.
National Portrait Gallery acquired the fourth image in 2021, initially for an exhibition curated by artist Connor Rogers at the Millennium Gallery, Sheffield. It is now exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in Chanel Culture Fund's A Creative Constellation: Contemporary Women in the Arts. A limited number are available to purchase here:
